caroline

we have a new pet here in tucson…her name is caroline and she is a scorpion. luckly we had just polished of an extra large jar of pickles so a habitat was easy to recreate with some rocks, sand, and twigs. she was a bit of a surprise this morning when we found her on our bedroom rug but it seems that she has settled in nicely and springs to life when we shake her jar to make sure she is still alive. reading up on scorpions, we have discovered that caroline is of the Bark Scorpion variety which is the most venomous in these parts and have been know to kill people although dogs are generally pretty safe and cats are immune. anyhow, we are hoping not to find any of caroline’s friends in our bed.

update from university coffee shop smells like alex farted

i’ve never been as excited had i have been recently to read books. it is like a little angle came down and blessed me with the will power to sit or lay and read this book. its a long book and i wish it was a bit shorter because almost 400 pages of a book is a tall order for a first book in a while. its good though and inspirational of sorts. inspiration in the sense of a boy my age raising a bother about 9yrs old. it doesn’t make me wish i had kids right now but it did inspire me enough to update my blog and tell the world that Tucson, Arizona is once again heaven on earth in the middle of January. I’m getting tan. I have good company. I have found my self once again, on the ranch. This time the horses are still next door, however the house is occupied with friends, boy friends, and little shits. and a chocolate lab. it nice having a dog around, if I haven’t ever emphasized that before let me say it again. its nice to have a dog.

we are packing up the coffee shop and i need to hit the post box. the little shit is shooting the shit and telling the world how it is and how it should be and how it will be and taking pictures of girls’ butts.

until the next moment of inspiration.

writting binge on a little too much sugar and decca

the past couple days have been a bit of a sugar and coffee bender but its quite nice and i suddenly seem to be finding words running out of my finger tips. they are not flowing like wine or water or poetry or coherency but they are flowing like a broken down damn. not just a little hole in the damn oozing out but the whole gosh darn wall collapsed and power is out in the town of frisco, assuming they use some of their damn for power in frisco…it might have actually just been a resevoir with a straight cut bridge do to the powers of construction and humanity, i can not recall.

i do recall the awesomeness of lake dillon however and the fun had last weekend in the mountains racing cross at 9000ft. and tomorrow is gonna be cross in the snow. with the off chance of sounding a bit too much like a small child i am excited and going to pack lots of warm clothes, esspecially for my fingers and toes.

i should pack. goodnight.

ginger ale

whelp i’m in the home stretch of sorts and soon soon soon i will be in boulder, CO and not going anywhere for a while. holy cow am i stoked. this month has been nuts, and will continue to be nuts, and its been great and all but i’m ready to chill out. chill out man, i am chill, i’m wearing a fucking kimono dude. well, i will be soon.

so the program has/is/will look/ed/s like this: after not seeing my boyfriend for 20 some odd days and working in chicago to make a little extra cash money and iron out the details of life, i got to see him for a whooping 4 days which was far to short but just long enough that i decided to keep him around and go another 30 days with the promise of possibly one of the best octobers of my life. anyhow, so we part ways again and i head off to Greensboro, NC and stay with best friend #1 Lauren Trull (this is not a rank order of best friends rather a numerical order in terms of length of relation ship as i hold all best friends as equal). In greensboro we actually stay with her rents, two of the nicest people on the planet and i confuse the hell out of her mom with my gluten freeness which makes me feel kinda lame but they where ever so accomidating. maddie the black lab is awesome too. we pound out a couple short MTB rides and i go for some runs and then its off to Lewisburg, WV with LT to see her new house and meet up with her husband Rigby. Rigby is in osteopath med school and that boy is gonna be one hell of a sports MD once he gets his papers. i have on going issues and man, i think i’ve gotten some of the best advice from him! their house was awesome and it was great to see the digs. With Lauren being 22 tho with the house and married and all however it kind of made me feel a little worried for a sec but then i remembered i’m 23 and well, i have time. i don’t even know where i want to live for more than 3months at this point!

anyhow, it was great to see her that crew before I headed to boone, NC for part 2 of my southern adventure: wedding!!! the wolfingtons tied the knot in superb fashion and i had a blast the entire weekend. the blue ridge mountains are phenominal…i always love vacationing there as i’ve had nothing but the best expereinces. went for some hikes, rode a bike on day, and enjoyed plenty of adult beverages and had a general ball. congrats to KB and wolf. it was an honor to be part of their wedding. those two have done so much for me over the last few years helping me get back on my feet with riding and i owe greg a very large chunk of credit for where i am today. thanks broham!!! CONGRATS!!!!

back to chitown after that and a quick couple day turn over before heading east once again to help out my buddy daimo and alex’s team at univest GP. the race was cool and i had fun working at the race a bit. i definitly prefer the riding position, but its always good to get in the shoes of your staff and really see how hard they work to make the bike race happen. i have deep respect for all the hardworking mechanics and swanys outs there. riding the caravan in a beamers isn’t so bad either. congrats to the felt holowesko boys on looking up an aggresive rider award in the final crit.

home again to chi tomorrow for another quick turn around and hopefully on the road to colorado by tuesday morning. can’t wait to get out there and hook up with my new CX team for the fall Hudz-Subaru. i’m jonesing to get the cross ball rolling with them. its a stellar crowd of people and great support… anyhow, will be looking to get my new blue Cx bike dialed in before the by friday so i can jump into so races by saturday this week! it might be ugly the first couple goes but hopefully i’ll have it well enough together after the weekend.

from there its off to vegas monday AM for interbike and CROSS VEGAS. should be a good time. not thrilled on going to vegas, but totally psyched for the race and to catch up with some people. then finally back to boulder after that just in time to pick up alex form the airport.

and that’s september folks.

August 20, 2009

a moment like this

it happened again with too much coffee and not a clue about how i want to progress with the day. i don’t have to train right so so its like “damn” there is so much i could do and so much that i could not do and i’m to god damn german to not do anything so now its what do i do. i guess i’m gonna run errands, or drive errands, but its all the not very fun errands as i can’t go buy running shoes which would be fun (i already know which ones i want that will provide the proper stability and have this new fangeled slopping heal design and i can see how far i ran in them too for only $24.99 extra). there is no money in my bank account though so i have to wait on the shoes as i just cut up my credit card. it looks like i’m going to be straight up poor for a while and not poor and paying off my poorness anymore. and waiting for running shoes.

i will drop off a check. then drop of clothes to good will. then drop of a box of cycling stuff to yojimbo’s track cats and pick up a cardboard bike box. then go to work for a hot minute. then hit the car wash and vacume out the chevy malibu.  i don’t know why i’m telling you all this bert, but thats just how it is.

tranquility: far out man

so dombro and i were sitting in the deschutes river here in bend, oregon today shootin the shit after a sucessful day 1 at Cascade Cycling Classic and it was tranquil as all get out. i got reminded by chrissy that i had a blog before the start of the race today so i figured i’s write again. ok: this entry brought to you by chrissy ruiter, a BEND resident infact, so it is fitting in many more ways than one. also brought to you in part by tranquility and far outness.

lets get back to tranquility. well, there isn’t much more to say about that except that it was totally tubular floating and we were just chillin in the river and everything was still and we just didn’t want to move. it was a nice feeling. i had no clue where i really was, just lost in a time warp of stillness. we got dragged out of the water by a girl in a baggy fish bikini to our dismay, but she is winning the race so we couldn’t really complain too much. by the way…do you like fish sticks? do you like to put fish sticks in your mouth? are you kanye? are you confused? are you a gay fish?!?

otherwise the spot we are staying here is far fucking out man. its totally radical. in a tranquil way. just sittin here on the deck now with the sun slowly going down and looking at juniper trees and hills and views. we are far out of bend which is a little bit of a bummer when there are people you are missing, but once i just stop and sit in the rocking chair out here or maybe even move down to the hamock in the front lawn once i’m done typing i just realize its all cool, theres not a complaint in the world.

the host family we have here are great too. dog people to the bone. its great. makes me happy to watch old people who love their dogs so much. me and audrey, the lady, where just in the yard talking about dog sledding while we kicked around a tennis ball for her healer named cricket. cricket is the kind of dog i wouldn’t mind having one day. a smart dog like her, and then a dopey labish dog to balance out the smartness. these guys have a dopey dog named boomer and he balances out cricket perfectly.img00257i digress. probably because i want to move to the hamock now. yup, thats it.

oh yeah, chrissy raced good today too, she got 3rd. that’s another reason why this should be presented by her.  and i met her ex boyfriend at food 4 less the other day. that was funny. that shopping plaza we went too had a food 4 less and a ross dress for less. then famous footware came in a mess up the theme of less. i bet payless was pissed.

dombro scored the KOM jersey today too and the new girl evie is in yellow. 5 days to go. polka dots are tight. i get proud of people i like when they do well. its a good feeling. i’ve been proud a lot lately with the likes of my training buddy at home in chicago John Nobel Tomlinson winning Jr track scratch nationals over the 4th. that was cool and he deserved it. just like dombro deserving the KOM jeresey. and U23 mtb nats. not bad.

alex just texted me. gotta go.
