Sure the cyclo-cross season is months away, but we wanted to check in with the reigning world champion and see what he’s been up to. There are few riders in the peloton as nice and humble as Erwin is and it’s always nice to see him doing well.

Our panel of experts included Geoff Proctor from Helena, Montana. Geoff is a familiar face on the cyclo-cross scene for many years both as a competitor and as the Technical Director for the U.S. Grand Prix of Cyclo-Cross.

On the tech side of things, we’re still working out a few minor issues at Missing Saddle studios - aka my bedroom - forgive me for the sound levels and heavy breathing into the mic.

A Conversation With Bob Roll

Former pro cyclist and current cycling guru and commentator gets grilled by his business partner for fun and games.

As Bob’s business partner, friend, confidant, therapist, negotiator, entertainer, proofreader, travel agent, financial organizer, crowd buffer as well as a variety of other things, I have learned that there is a lot to learn about Bob outside of cycling. How do you get the job of Bob Roll’s business partner? I get asked that question a lot. Honestly, I feel guilty calling it a job and depending who I talk to, a bit uncomfortable commenting on how we met.

I got married five years ago to a cycling fan and like a good wife, I watched the Tour de France on television and read up in order to learn about the race. In watching the coverage, I always felt like I knew Bob Roll. It was like a cosmic connection or something. Living in south central Wisconsin, I have friends who work at Trek and confided in them that I had always wanted to have a beer with Bob. (more…)
