The final stage for the 2009 Tour of Hainan concluded this week with an 80km flat circuit race in downtown Sanya. It included three Sprints, worth 3, 2, and 1 points respectively. Kiel Reijnen was looking to get two or three points to push him into the top ten in the GC. Although that didn’t happen, he put in a great effort this week.
“I’m very proud of his efforts this week,” Van Haute said. “He really tried there at the end, but he’s not a sprinter so he did really well for himself and the Team.”
The final results put Kiel in 20th in the GC and 3rd in the KOM overall.
“I would just like to thank my staff for all their hard work,” he added. “John, Katie and Neil worked really hard and I appreciate everything they’ve done.”
