In Lucca, Italy now preparing for the Giro Donne. Lucca is heaven. We’ve been here 3 days and I don’t want to leave. The riding here is amazing, I can’t stop eating the food (maybe that’s a reason to leave actually), the weather has been fantastic, it’s refreshing to see green foliage again, and the fiiiiiiigs…mmmmmmmmmm. But, I guess I am here to race so we’ll be packing up the cars tomorrow to head to the first race hotel (should be interesting). The race starts with a 2.5km prologue that theoretically starts at 7pm. I don’t think once in the 3 times that I have raced the Giro did the prologue EVER start on time. For whatever reason, the Italians are never in a hurry to get anything done. And when they are rushed, chaos ensues. And the hotels have always been a bit suspect and usually without AC which is rough in this hot, humid weather here. Maybe we’ll luck out a few times this year and be able to sleep comfortably. Ha. Even luckier would be if we have WiFi. Ha ha. Just maybe I’ll be able to post an update a few more times here and there. If not, I guess I’ll have a lot to write about when all is said and done.
Ciao!
