After 25 individual victories and podiums so far this season, Colavita/Sutter Home Men’s Cycling Team p/b Cooking Light has climbed to the top of the NRC rankings. The team has also ranked in the top-three in the team classifications for many of the major continental stage races this year. Additionally, six of the top 15 riders in the individual standings ride for Colavita: Sebastian Haedo (3rd); Alejandro Borrajo (5th); Anthony Colby (6th); Tyler Wren (7th); Kyle Wamsley (14th); and Luis Amaran (15th). The twelve-rider team is under direction of Sebastian Alexandre. Their next race is set for the Tour of Winghaven this coming weekend.

Other US teams have also had successful seasons. On June 15th, Kenda Pro Cycling p/b Spinergy welcomed Jake Rytlewski back to racing after suffering a broken clavicle in Jose Martin. With Ben Renkema and Chad Baldesare, Kenda dominated the Tour de Mont Pleasant Omium; Renkema won the overall title. Then, in the Nature Valley Grand Prix, Ty Stanfield won the most aggressive rider jersey on Stage 5. Finally, after taking second place on the first stage of the Tour of Ohio, Marco Aledia has captured the sprinter’s jersey. With just a couple of stages remaining, chances are that he will win his 6th overall Tour of Ohio Sprinter/Points Jersey!
Team OUCH pressnted by Maxxis also has had a successful season this year. Recently, Rory Sutherland closed a 13 second gap to Tom Zirbel (Bissell) to claim another overall win in the Nature Valley Grand Prix. Sutherland’s teammate Floyd Landis initiated the crucial attack that forced Bissell to defend. This maneuver on Landis’ part earned him the Most Aggressive Rider jersey on the day.
Bissell, however, still could be happy with their work in NVGP. Zirbel held on for 2nd, and Peter Latham took 6th. The Jacques-Maynes brothers were both also in the top-25 overall. Bissell also won the best team overall. For the young Trek Livestrong team, Jesse Sergent and Sam Bewley finished 3rd and 8th respectively in the TT of the Tour de Beauce. This followed an incredibly active attack by Bewley the day before in the 155km stage.
Team BMC was also active in the Tour de Beauce where Danilo Wyss captured third in the final stage, securing himself the points jersey.
