It’s great to be back in the US. San Diego has been great, as per usual, prefect weather, good training, nice beaches!
So I went to try to be “tough” in Tulsa, but Brad Huff was far tougher, winning two stages and the overall. I managed a 7th on the first stage, and that’s about it. Tulsa Tough was a great event, good circuits, good prize money and very friendly organization. A great race that I will be doing again next year if it is at all possible.
After that I headed to Nature Valley GP, having been given a wildcard spot with the Waste Management team of Barney King. I appreciated the leg up so that I could get a good stage race under the belt in June, and the young riders on the team impressed me. It was also nice to be surrounded by a bit of youthful exuberance, it took the focus off me being a grumpy old man!
It has been nice to catch up with friends, and old team mates, and to be missing a Blue Mountains winter…. apparently it has been raining and 5 degrees ever since I left…
