GRAND RAPIDS, MI., April 16, 2008
BISSELL Pro Cycling (BPC) announces its eight-man roster for the 2008 Tour of Georgia presented by AT&T. Team leaders and Time Trial specialists, Ben Jacques-Maynes and Tom Zirbel, captain a solid squad, looking to shine during the Tour’s Stage 4 premiere Team Time Trial event. Jacques-Maynes interest in this year’s race was particularly peaked when he learned about the addition of the Team Time Trial.
The recent Sequoia Cycling Classic Time Trial winner said, “We’ve got a solid team for this event [the TTT], all with proven abilities to time trail. This is an opportunity for us to demonstrate that on an international stage. We’re all looking forward to it.” Joining the 2007 NRC number two ranked Jacques-Maynes and co-captain Zirbel, Amgen Tour of California’s Stage 7 solo break-a-way superstar, are Aaron Olson, Richard England, Jeremy Vennell, Garrett Peltonen, Scott Zwizanski and Teddy King.
Olson and Swizanski are no strangers to the routes and unpredictable weather that can accompany the southern state’s 600-mile, seven-day race and both will be looking for the right opportunity to get in a break. Strongman Teddy King is another breakaway threat, having proven the power to weather the most brutal of conditions in a five-hour break during Stage 4 of the Amgen Tour of California. New Zealander Jeremy Vennell, winner of the Tour of Southland’s Stage 5 & 6, is fresh off Redlands where he placed ninth in the prologue and will likely play a big factor in keeping the squad together during the Time Trial.
Rounding out the roster are 2006 Australian Criterium Champion, Richard England and solid all-rounder and 2007 Tour of Leelanau winner, Garrett Peltonen, both with the epic February stage race in their legs. BISSELL joins the Tour of Georgia presented by AT&T in 2008 as an official sponsor. The BISSELL Clean Sweep “broom wagon” will bring up the back of the caravan, sweeping for wayward riders. The company will also provide floor care products for Tour promotions.
