What are people looking for in a saddle? Some people may only look for aesthetics, while others are looking for performance or ultimate comfort.Younger riders may not know any better as far as comfort, or they just don’t feel any problems. Older and more experienced riders seem to know what they are looking for.

WTB’s new “Silverado” is the latest saddle that I have mounted. Lightweight, comfortable, and fairly stiff, it is a true hybrid saddle. The seat can be used on a mountain bike as well as a road bike.
This new saddle is WTB’s lower profile design that does not sacrifice any comfort. A channel runs through the middle that mitigates pressure that can make one uncomfortable or numb. The low profile cut also takes away from chafing. Now this may be subjective to myself, but I called a guy who weighs about 240lbs, and judging by his Levis, has wide sit bones. He claims to love the “Silverado” and prefers it on his cross bike.
The saddle has good padding, but not too much, and has a stiff shell. The shape has a bit of contour, so one must not assume that it is a flat saddle. A rider that chooses to slide on the nose can still manage on the “Silverado“.
Some MTB saddles are just too big, and the riders has to peddle around the saddle, and can get chaffed. There will be no problems with like that with the “Silverado”. In addition to the saddle’s sleekness, its lightweight shell sits on titanium rails that keeps the thing just below 200 grams.
Trends and aesthetics are relative, and relative to right now, the “Siverado” is good looking. I have the white saddle with urban camo trim. Urban camo is the new pink, so yeah, its hip.
