Farewell To A King
Dear Friends and Family,
As some of you may already know, I have decided to retire from professional cycling at the end of this 2007 season. It was one of the hardest decision I’ve had to make in my life, but it is one that comes with no regrets. For years I’ve passionately loved the sport of cycling and happily made many sacrifices in my life to accommodate the career and lifestyle it has afforded me. It wasn’t until late last year that I began to struggle with the demands and sacrifices it required to compete at the professional level. By June of 2007, I knew in my heart it was time to think about a new future.

By retiring from professional cycling, I have been blessed with the opportunity to pursue my other love of real estate. Since I was a little boy I have had a deep love for homes and the market they belong to.
I want to personally thank everyone who has been at my side during this wild ride that was first, my amateur cycling career, and last, my professional cycling career. It. is because of many of you reading this that at 26 years old I have already lived one of my dreams. Because of that I am forever indebted.
Austin King

My Perspective of This “thing” We Call Change.
With the end of one career comes the. birth of a new one.
I won’t lie, it’s very unsettling to leave behind everything familiar and venture into a new environment far less familiar than the previous. After dedicating myself to the sport of cycling for 13 years and reaching the professional level, starting over in a new career feels slightly “funny”. While this is an odd statement, I find it “funny” because it reminds me of my earlier days of cycling when I didn’t know the difference between chamois butter and tubular glue.
On the not-so-bright-side, in cycling a new rider looks new. Their attire, strengths, and riding position are a dead giveaway. Any cyclist knows just what I’m talking about. On the contrary, the life of a REALTOR is different. I have slacks and so do they. I have a button down shirt and so do they. I have a big briefcase filled with documents and so do they. Where the difference becomes apparent is in the blank look I often display as I try and figure out how the copy machine works… an ongoing battle even as we speak.
Fortunately for me, I’m very lucky to enter the real estate world under the guidance of Mr. Greg Kilroy and his Velocity Group. Here I will receive the necessary care and education needed to achieve my next career goal of real estate success. You must surround yourself with the best if you intend on being the best.
Well I believe that gets you up to speed with the current changes in my life. I’ll need to head off now to tend to some business (and by business I mean figure out how the copy machine works).
Take care and keep in touch,
Austin King
